Nancy Atherton, author of the cozy mystery series featuring 'Aunt Dimity' is neither a native Englishwoman nor an older grande dame. Ms. Atherton is a native American who evidently loves England and visits it often - returning time and time again even though she's had some difficult experiences there. Nancy Atherton knows the entire length and breadth of England as well as Wales; sometimes backpacking, sometimes traveling any way she can.

Nancy Atherton was born and raised in Chicago with five brothers and two sisters. We haven't a clue as to when, although if one judges by the photo on the book jacket, Ms. Atherton is probably in her thirties. Of course, after publishing more than nine Aunt Dimity books, she could be older! Nancy Atherton wouldn't be the first author (male or female) to publish a younger photo! However, what we ARE allowed to know is that Ms. Atherton currently lives in the most rural section of Illinois, in a farmhouse with a view of cornfields.

Nancy Atherton attended the University of Chicago, where she eventually enrolled in the PhD program, only to drop out with something called an ABD (don't ask - I don't know). Ms. Atherton has since been involved in a number of different jobs, among them librarian where she was instrumental in finding a thief. Nancy Atherton has also traveled widely in the USA, and finally avoided bankruptcy brought about by a poor male partner who used her credit cards to place her deep into debt. Ms. Atherton chose to pay off the credit cards through writing, and the rest is history.

Unless otherwise stated below, books are hardcovers with jacket, 1st edition/1st printing trade editions in fine condition. Additional flaws are noted. Certificate of Authenticity for Author's Signature included.
